Hello Mathias,

when I try to add a profile, I only see ** . Can I edit it in a file, where I
see the input in clear text.
Is it correct to type ^AESpassword or is this syntax wrong?

Berthold

For the authentication and privacy strings, you can specify an encryption
algorithm by inserting type^ at the beginning of the string, where type is one
of DES, 3DES, AES, SHA, MD5. Obviously only types that are valid for the
privacy string work for the privacy string, and only types that are valid for
the authentication string work for the authentication string. You can also set
the default types in .vnmrc. There's lots of documentation on snmp v3 in
Modeling Your IT Infrastructure Administrator Guide (5167.pdf).

I haven't seen any problems with trying to modify a profile in 8.1 or in 9.1,
but I have found that most of my OneClick freezing or display issues are
related to java version mismatches.
