Hello list,

In searching for something else, I happened to stumble across a post on
the CA support portal, which I have copied below.

The original message is posted at

Summary:

For anyone on this list that is still using Spectrum 8.x (and list
questions indicate that there are many),

you should be aware that CA is discontinuing support for 8.x in the next
year (~October 2010).

Please contact CA for assistance and upgrade planning...

I only am passing on the message.

No need to reply.

Thanks,

CA Spectrum Network Fault Manager
End of Service Announcement for r8.x

October 12, 2009
To: CA SPECTRUM Network Fault Manager Customers
From: The CA SPECTRUM Network Fault Manager Product Team
Subject: End of Service Announcement for CA SPECTRUM Network Fault
Manager r8.x

CA is continually working to improve our software and services to best
meet the needs of our customers. In accordance with our CA Support
Lifecycle Policy
(support.ca.com/phpdocs/0/common/tslifecycle_policy.pdf), please
consider this letter your minimum 12 months notification that we are
discontinuing support for CA SPECTRUM Network Fault Manager (CA SPECTRUM
NFM) r8.0 and r8.1 . This will allow our Development organization to
effectively focus its resources on and add value to CA Spectrum
Infrastructure Manager (CA Spectrum IM) r9.2 and r10.0.

As development of CA Spectrum IM r9.2 progresses, we encourage you to
consider your migration plan, and we will contact you again with
migration path information, updates on features and functions of CA
Spectrum IM r9.2, and the actual End of Service Dates for CA SPECTRUM
NFM r8.0 and CA SPECTRUM NFM r8.1.

At this time, we encourage you to plan your migration to CA SPECTRUM NFM
r9.1.1 as soon as possible so you can take full advantage of the new
features and enhancements this release has to offer. If you have any
questions regarding the support schedule, please contact your local CA
Account Manager or Support Availability Manager.

Your success is very important to us, and we look forward to continuing
our successful partnership with you.
