I happen to have CA tech solution explaining about this Alarm. Here it goes...
<QUOTE "Essentially this alarm is stating that a loop has been detected when
querying oids on a device by using SNMP GETNEXT and that SPECTRUM will never
reach an "end of table" due to this loop. For example: SPECTRUM queries a
table. Instance #1 is queried and it returns a value of instance 1. When
instance #2 is queried it returns a value of instance 2. When instance #3 is
queried, it returns a value of instance 1. SPECTRUM then queries instance 1
again and the cycle continues.
This is an issue with the values that the device is returning to SPECTRUM when
SPECTRUM is querying the device. Instead of being stuck in an infinite loop,
SPECTRUM recognizes when a loop happens, stops polling that table, generates
Event 0x10c17 and Alarm 0x10c17, and enters the OID into the event that it was
looping on.
Verification of the loop can be done via MibTools and/or a sniffer trace. The
vendor of the device would need to be contacted for resolution to the loop."
ENDQUOTE>
Thank you - Ali.

Subject: [spectrum] Enterasys device in Spectrum
Hi all,
I have added a enterasys device "Matrix E/ Platinum Rev 06.12.03.0003
04/22/2009--12:42 ofc"
to spectrum 9.1 and get a lot of events with the message, "an invinite loop has
been detected in the MIB 1.3.6.1.2.1.31.1.1.1.18"
Is this a known problem, or a problem from spectrum or from enterasys?
Or can I configure something in spectrum to prevent this?
Any ideas?
Best Regards
Berthold
