Oscar, We've been using Spectrum since version 6 and have had issues with using root as the install user. Since the early days we have used an ID like specuser with the same Unix group as our admin team. This gives our admins the same privileges as specuser and has gone a long way with security audits. All scripts and programs source the env file in SPECTRUM directory to ensure all necessary environment variables are set. Using root will work but for supportability we just made the change. Good luck! Scott

Hi We have a debate with CA Support engineer..... here is the case, I have installed Spectrum over RH and Solaris, but I always have done it using Root user to install it, so a coworker has this problem he had installed Spectrum over solaris using root , and launch spectroserver using specuser and works fine, but when he opens admin web page and tries to open any tab, administration etc. it shows that there is a missing path in order to work, so here is the doubt CA support says we need to install Spectrum using specuser user... are they correct??? Please advice. Thanks in advance. Oscar Longinos Consultant T Monitor S.A. de C.V. Insurgentes Sur 1898, Piso 12 C.P. 01020, México D.F.
