Yes, this has changed. "CA Virtual Assurance" by itself is available to download and use "without cost" (well sort of). You have to license the agents (Sysedge and the "Virtual" AIMs for (VMware, IBM LPARs, Solaris Zones, and Citrix Xen)
Essentially, your license cost is for the agents that you use, and the management server and capability is provided at No Cost once you own one of the agents. CA Virtual Assurance for Infrastructure Managers - is the previously named "Virtual Performance Management (VPM)" product. This is different to "CA Virtual Assurance" mentioned above. Looks like CA Marketing are having fun with "Virtual" products at the moment. So to answer the original question, you will not be able to download the Virtual AIM unless you have purchased a license for it. Contact your CA account manager/sales person if you want to test it. I'm sure they can arrange something. "CA Virtual Assurance" lives on the SystemEDGE r12 DVD's. This package contains of the Virtual Center and the SystemEDGE + VCAIM. One of our customer only wants the AIM for integration with Spectrum and eHealth. He has to buy the full product. Now he only extracts the AIM and don't use the Virtual Assurance. But maybe CA changed this :) Regards -- Christoph Keßler E-Mail: kess...@amasol.de<mailto:kess...@amasol.de> amasol AG, Elsenheimerstraße 7, 80687 München, Germany Phone: +49 89 1894743-24 Fax: +49 89 1894743-99 amasol Aktiengesellschaft für Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologie Aufsichtsrat: Prof. Dr. Stephan Kaiser (Vorsitzender) Vorstand: Wolfgang Bachmann, Stefan Deml, Thomas Dirsch, Johann Maurer Amtsgericht München HRB 128327, Sitz der Gesellschaft München Von: De Munter, Erwin [mailto:erwin.de_mun...@siemens.com] Gesendet: Freitag, 24. Based on one of the greenbooks "CA_Virtual_Performance_Management_Green_Book_ENU.pdf" it is a separate product instance called "CA Virtual Performance Management" Documentation I have been trough;. "Best Practices; Modeling Virtual Env in Spectrum", The green book mentioned above, and the Spectrum "Spectrum_VHM_Solution_ENU.pdf" Could someone explain, how I can test the systemedge VPM AIM. Is it possible to buy / use the SystemEdge VPN AIM, without the full CA virtual ¨Performance Management product" ? If it is a product suite, I can't find it on the CA site product list, neither in support. NOTE: I asked support the same question, but experiences sourced by the newsgroup are welcome. Any expereinces with Spectrum modeleing an ESX with fanouts ( without VHM ), compared to the new VPM modeling. And expereinces with the VHM modeling, compared with VHM, combined with native SNMP for the virtual hosts, as described in the manual ?
