You can delete the models there are 2 ways that I know of.

Delete VCenter server

1. If you delete the discovered VCenter server that has the hosts on it
and make sure it is gone by looking in Lost and Found. If you have hosts or
guests in the lost and found just change the delete time attribute to speed it
up to try and get all of the host out as clean as you can.

2. Rediscover the VCenter server and it should pull in and create the
structure all over again hopefully correctly this time.

Delete Hosts or Guests

1. To delete a guest or host that seemingly cannot be deleted bring up
the attribute tab in component details on the host you want to get rid of and
look for the attribute called "EditModesMask" on mine the attribute id is
0x130cc. It has an integer value other than 0 so set it to "0" (the number
zero) and then try and delete it and you will be pleasantly surprised it will
be delete able now. Remember, next time VCAIM get updated info it will recreate
the model you just destroyed. I have done this from time to time just to get
it to build out the new model.

Note: If you have odd issues with the discovery then you need to check and make
sure that your VCenter server is NOT a VM guest. We had an issue where the
VCenter was a guest of an already discovered by VHM. Kind of gets into a
circular loop so to speak and causes issues. A

Note: Make sure you install sysedge and the VC AIM on the VCenter server. There
was a time when you could put the VC AIM on a separate server other than the
VCenter server but I believe that is not supported anymore.

Note: There are a ton of patches for the Virtual Assurance and some for the VC
AIM as well. Make sure you apply them they may make a big difference.

Tip: The order in which you discover your VM topology is important. If you plan
on using SNMP or sysedge then this should be done.

1. Install sysedge agents or configure native SNMP on your guest hosts.
Do not discover with Spectrum until you do this step, if they are in there
delete them.

2. Configure native SNMP on your ESX hosts. Do not discover with Spectrum
until you do this step, if they are in there delete them. If you don't turn on
SNMP you may be missing the MAC and IP of the host server, check it after you
discover them and make sure they are there.

3. Discover the VCenter server so it pulls in all of the hosts and guest
then builds it out under Virtual Host Manager. You will get better results.

4. Now discover the guests and hosts using Spectrum Discovery console and
you will see that a Virtual guest host and the ESH Host will stay in there but
it will be updated so that it also has an SNMP agent or sysEdge agent. It will
not create a duplicate model so you will not get 2 hosts on the same landscape
server this is the desired effect.

50 ESX on same topology view ¿? That a lot!

I just started using it as well.

The only thing I'm not liking is that it modeled all 50 ESX servers into one of
my containers in the Universe (seemingly random). Now I can't move them or
delete and it's messing up my topology.

Otherwise it looks pretty good.

Anybody managing vmware vCenter infrastructure with Spectrum's Virtual Perf Mgr
via systemEdge and an AIM module ?

We are and NOT seeing what we need under Virtual Host Mgr.

I'd like to compare notes with any users and their experiences.

Thanks

-Rob
