Hmmm... would you mind providing more details on this comment? I recently turned on the archive option, not wanting to destroy data, but reduce the size of our event table (40gigs). Ran a outage report from the start of the year and it seemed to miss some events... i.e. providing inaccurate reporting data. I ran the optimize steps you mentioned and it did reduce the table size.
