Hello, we have several customers, who runs Spectrum in VMWare virtual machines. Up to now, there are no problems which would based on the virtual machines.
Ø Also, going virtual would remove the need to have redundant SS servers, and the cost of license that go with it, or am I wrong. In my opinion, nothing is better than the build-in failover of the SpectroServers. Moving a SpectroServer to another ESX host cost some seconds. Then the problems during patches: With one machine, you have no backup for the time during the patch. So you will not have any monitoring. If you got a device-based license, the Failover license is included. Does anybody has experience with Spectrum server running on a virtual machine (RedHad machine on a vmware ESX server would be the target)? Is there any reason not to go for this? Also, going virtual would remove the need to have redundant SS servers, and the cost of license that go with it, or am I wrong.
