All, I called support and they confirmed me that these attributes are not used in anything post SpectroGraph release. That means they are available for use without touching the MTE.
Also I asked them if there is a limitation on number of characters we can put in them (gib_* and notes) and we verified more than 40,000 characters without issues. Considerations before using: 1. Inserting large number of characters might increase the memory used by SS process. 2. Even though gib_* are available now, it is not guaranteed to stay in future and engineering might remove them in future releases or these attributes may stay forever. So folks it's up to you which approach you want to take, you can use the MTE and create new attributes or you can use these existing ones as long as they are available.
