Alternatively get the systems managers to update the ifAlias for the interface with some data identifying the interface as important for a service and then use that for the search criteria for monitoring. Then if the device reindexes the interfaces it won't affect the monitoring. -----Original Message----- From: Nissel, David [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Thursday, 29 March 2012 3:53 AM To: spectrum Subject: RE:[spectrum] Model name/number ID Changed on Router Interface (UNCLASSIFIED) No, that's the weird thing, there hasn't been a physical hardware change on the 7200 in question for years. The only thing that did happen last fall was that we went from encapsulating frame-relay on a point to point subinterface on the serial to get to Verizon to just encapsulating against the interface itself and then removed the subinterface. Other than that, nothing major other than day to day administration. -dave Dave Nissel Network Architect ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Select Medical Information Technology, Network Services Group Voice (717) 975-4522 Fax (717) 412-9371 E-Mail <mailto:[email protected]> [email protected] -----Original Message----- From: Schroeder, Stephen G CIV (US) [ <mailto:[email protected]> mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2012 1:41 PM To: Nissel, David; spectrum Subject: RE: Model name/number ID Changed on Router Interface (UNCLASSIFIED) Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Caveats: FOUO Dave, The only thing I can think of: Was there an ISO or hardware change? Stephen -----Original Message----- From: Nissel, David [ <mailto:[email protected]> mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2012 7:07 AM To: spectrum Subject: [spectrum] Model name/number ID Changed on Router Interface All, I have a router that for years, had a serial interface that Spectrum had modeled as RouterName_2. Somewhere along the line and unbeknownst to me, the interface name changed to RouterName_4. That had the unfortunate byproduct of invalidating a SANM rule that I had to alert me when it went offline. Anyone see this before and what the cause of it might be?
