Shahla Assuming you don't want to set all 500 devices to the same hostname then I'm not sure NCM is your best option. Why not look to use CLI to set the sysName instead? You would need a file that maps the old hostname (or some other attribute that CLI could use to find the correct model, such as ip address) to the new hostname. CLI could then read the file, find the correct model and set the sysName to the new hostname. Of course this depends on the sysName setting the hostname correctly on your 500 devices.

Pushing a 'snippet' of config to a Cisco device works very well and you get the choice whether to reboot or not. But with Enterasys matrix N series switches for example you must upload the complete new config, and then the switch will auto reboot whether you want it to or not which is a pain. This isn't an NCM issue just the switch FAD. Hope this helps. Regards Stephen.
