List I have a challenge where I have a complete virtualized env and I need to provide as many and as best metrics for enhancing our virtual infrastructure Monitoring. Obviously one solution is to buy VMware centric monitoring tools.
Second is to enhance vcaim capabilities . I can get the vm level metrics configured and monitored but the problem arise when I need to get more enhanced capability like monitoring the resource pools , data store , storage , filers associated with esx host etc... Problem with vcaim is it gives limited thresholding capability to the top level resources (like storage esx host, data store etc) Anyone has any suggestions best practices for monitoring these resources. One way i was thinking was to certify traps from vcenter for specific resources and integrate them through SBG Any other suggestions?
