Hi everyone,

I'm using Spectrum 9.2 H07 and have a question regarding process/service
monitoring on server clusters.

I'll give an example. I've got 2 Windows servers that form a cluster.
There is 1 process that is monitored on active server. When active server
goes down, standby server becomes active and before mentioned process is
started on it.

I'm trying to figure out how to set up alarming for the cluster. I need an
alarm when process is in stopped state on both servers. That means my
business service is down.

I've found server attributes that could help me but I can't connect them
to each other, I can't get the info I need.

These attributes are:
ntClusterIsActive - can be true (1) or false (2). It's telling if this
system is the primary or active node.
ntServiceName - displays the list of services on a node. It's a list
(table) of services.
ntServiceState - displays current status of services on a node. It's also
a list (table) of services.

Each service has an instance for ntServiceName and ntServiceState.

I'd like to create an alarm when following happens:
1. ntClusterIsActive is true.
2. ntServiceName is for example 'SNMP Service'.
3. ntServiceState is not equal to 1 (running).

I've noticed that ntServiceName and ntServiceState instances are marked
from 1, 2, 3,... to x (for example 100).
When a new service is installed, it gets an Instance ID 101 (the last one
available).
When server is restarted, instances stay the same.
When a service, with instance ID before instance ID of my monitored
service, is removed, subsequently all instance IDs are changed.

Is there a way to monitor service by its name? Because I don't see other
way to monitor services on cluster servers...

Srdačan pozdrav / Kind regards,
