As far as I recall, haven't had time to test, each time the schedule window is
reached the schedule timer will start and in your case it will wait 1 day (as
you have it configured) until it runs the test. While its waiting the schedule
'window' closes at 5:30 and this scenario happens every day with the result
that the test will never run. You could have a look at setting the schedule
interval to a small number of minutes eg 5 and set the schedule to 05:00-05:15,
hopefully that will work. It means that you may make 2 or 3 calls per line. You
can tinker with the settings to minimise the number of tests run but make sure
the test will always have time to run so to speak.
IMHO your greatest risk is if the isdn line doesn't drop the line and you
accrue lots of call charges. If these are backup links you could use spectrums
Non persistent connection manager to monitor their state and negate this risk.
Regards
Stephen.

I'm having a bit of trouble scheduling an automatic ping test in SPM.

What we're trying to do is test 3 ISDN lines by pinging the dialler IPs from
the Spectroserver at 5.00am. The dialler IPs are only reachable by the ISDN
links so initiating the pings will bring up the lines. If the ping doesn't
respond, the ISDN link is considered down and to be checked over and faulted to
the telco.

However my SPM test schedule won't work. The SPM tests themselves work, as I
ran them manually before scheduling. What I'd like to do is start at 5:00am
and repeat every 24 hrs.

The following has been set in SPM Schedule:

Schedule State: Enabled
Schedule Time Interval: 1 days + 00:00:00
Schedule Select: Every day from 5:00am to 5:30am
Threshold Violation Interval: 00:05:00

As I understand it that should schedule the task to run every 24 hrs starting
at 5:00am. Have I got the wrong idea?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks & regards

Dave
