Hi all,

In order to be able to discover and model VMWare environmet, you need to:

· Install SystemEdge on a Windows system

· Install Advanced Encryption on the same Windows system

· Install VCAIM with the vCenter credentials and connection parameters
to it

· Discover THAT Windows system with the corresponding community string
and polling port

After doing that, you should see the Virtual Host Manager module with the
vSphere environment listed. You would see something like this:

VHM

                vCenter

                               DataCenter

                                               Hypervisor

                                                               Vm01

                                                               Vm02

                                                               Vm0n

                                               Cluster

                                                               Vm10

                                                               Vm1n

And so on

Best regards

That is wrong. You an install the actual SystemEDGE (5.7) and the VCAIM on any
Windows system, you want. The VCAIM will connect remotly to the VCenter server
(https) and communicate over that connection. CA doesn't recommend to install
the SystemEDGE directly on the VCenter server!

Hey Marco,

you have to install the VMware vCenter AIM for the CA SystemEDGE agent on the
vCenter server, not on the on the virtual machines. Within the installation
process you have to enter your vCenter server and credential information.

Look at the Installation Guide (Chapter 3: Installing CA Virtual Assurance,
Page 24: Typical and Custom Installation), where you can find helpful hints.

With best regards from Schwerin

There is a vCenter in my work and I installed vc_AIM for sysEdge.

Is need to install an agent on the virtual machines?. I discovered the vCenter
in the "virtual machine manager', but I can't see the virtual machines. The
user that is configured on the AIM should be an administrator?
