Hi Dan,

not sure if I'm misunderstanding something here.
The procedure I described will make use of the search criteria permanently. So
there is no need for manual intervention.

Thanks for the response..

I did something similar - did a search and added to GC - BUT what I am looking
for is a way to use the datacenter data in a GC rule - so this GC becomes real
time - no manual intervention. Our VM environment is dynamic enough I need to
automate this

Hi Dan,

basically it comes down to relational searches within OneClick, which still
can't be defined by ourselves unfortunately.
However, there a few of them predefined, like "Devices -> Supports Application"
or "Virtual Host Management -> VMware -> Virtual Machines -> By Datacenter
Name".
You might use the function to create GlobalCollections based on Locater
searches.
Please see the attached picture as a starting point.
Beware, there is a little bug when using a list of values (e.g. a list of
VMware Datacenter names): once the search/Global Collection I saved and shall
be re-edited, it will not show the previously entered list of values. But these
values are still stored within the system, so it's mainly an issue with
"remembering" what you previously entered.

Betreff: [spectrum] Spectrum Vcenter Modeling - access datacenter info in
attribute

Greetings

We are running Spectrum 9.3 and managing multiple Vcenters using the Sysedge
VMware AIM.

My Vcenter team has done considerable work in defining data centers and
environments within the Vcenter. The environments can be as simple as
"production", "qa", or "dev".

I have a need to create Global collections in Spectrum that contain just "prod"
Vm's for a given datacenter. I cannot find an attribute that has the names of
the datacenter or environement. There are other examples of topography strings
- LocationModelNameString, TopologyModelNameString and
collectionsModelNameSrtring are good examples of this.

Does anyone have an idea on how to accomplish this??
