Phillip,

thank you for your hint, I was thinking about using Condition Correlation
(which AFAIR is the base for SSM), but discarded it right away thinking it
would not work the way I wanted. But giving it second thought, you might
be right. I guess I can use event variables to distinguish different event
streams from each other... I will have a second look. Thamks again!

and variable

My understanding is you can write those rules within what used to be
called Spectrum Service Manager (SSM).
It give the advanced correlation engine to write the type of rules you are
talking about?.

However, I?ve never done this.

Subject: [spectrum] EventRateWindow rule based on Event handle and
variable

Hi all,

does anyone know a way to watch the occurence of an event with a unique
variable 1 for X times within a sliding window? I.e. I do not only need to
have SPECTRUM look out for a specific number of events wirth the same
handle within a specific time period, but merely for a specific number of
events with the same handle and (in my case one, but generally speaking
any) same event variable contents?

Since I have a closed range of possible variable contents, I might
generate unique events for each differing discriminator value and have
them watched by the same number of EventRateWindow rules (see Event
Configuration User Guide, App. B: "Multiple Event Occurence", at least in
9.2 documentation), but it would be much more flexible to handle it
generally...
