Phillip, thank you for your hint, I was thinking about using Condition Correlation (which AFAIR is the base for SSM), but discarded it right away thinking it would not work the way I wanted. But giving it second thought, you might be right. I guess I can use event variables to distinguish different event streams from each other... I will have a second look. Thamks again!

I do not only need to have SPECTRUM look out for a specific number of events wirth the same handle within a specific time period, but merely for a specific number of events with the same handle and (in my case one, but generally speaking any) same event variable contents? Since I have a closed range of possible variable contents, I might generate unique events for each differing discriminator value and have them watched by the same number of EventRateWindow rules (see Event Configuration User Guide, App. B: "Multiple Event Occurence", at least in 9.2 documentation), but it would be much more flexible to handle it generally...
