Hi Richard :-) >From Start/Run type DxDiag + (enter). The diagnostic tool should show you anything u would like to know about your DirectX version. U need version 9a in order to run the demo. I guess many pC's still only have version 7 or 8. It depends amongst other things on ur graphics card. And yes it's overkill with directx 9 for that demo. A much lower version would have been enough.
