What do you call "grinding solves"?

Technically, I didn't use credit cards. I opted for plastic buttern
knives instead. But those came first by about two weeks and made all
the difference in the world. Two of my sides didn't turn as well as
the others, and all six were too tight as it was. The butter knives
helped loosen it up considerably. The grinding solves just made it a
little looser, but also helped to wear down the internal corners, so
now it transitions between turns better, because it doesn't need to be
matched up as perfectly.
