Can you send the output of route -n before and after you connect, this
could help.
As far as I know, ppp should set the default gateway, but I'm not sure of
what's happening
if this is set before launching it.
Anyway, once you're connected you should check the address of your ppp0,
let say it's 193.251.77.154 and do
route add default gw 193.251.77.1
I don't know nothing about linuxconf so I can't help making the changes
permanent.
