Bonjour,

First, I'd just like to say thanks to everyone responsible for the
open source speedtouch drivers - I've been using them under linux with
a 2.4.9 kernel for a few weeks now and they work great. :-) It's
fantastic to leave Win2K behind.

Unfortunately, I'm having problems getting them working with a 2.5.6
kernel, so I was hoping somebody on the list could nudge me in the
right direction.

Under 2.5.6, running modem_run gives the following:

[root@ikkyo dev]# modem_run -m -v 2 -f /root/mgmt/mgmt.o
I'm sorry, I didn't find your ADSL modem!
Tips: check that you are running this program as root and your
device is seen by your OS
      Linux users : check /proc/bus/usb/devices
BSD users : check your ugen and usb entries in /dev

Looking at /proc/bus/usb/devices, we have:

[root@ikkyo dev]# cd /proc/bus/usb/
[root@ikkyo usb]# ls -laFi
total 0
     85 drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Mar 23 17:45 ./

     88 dr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Mar 23 17:45 001/
     86 -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Mar 23 17:45 devices
     87 -r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Mar 23 17:45 drivers

Now, those Driver=(none) lines look suspicious to me... :-) Here's
what I get under 2.4.9 (which works):

Which looks better. Unfortunately I don't know how to fix this. :-(

For both 2.4.9 and 2.5.6 I've compiled all support stright into the
kernel, rather than as loadable modules. I'm _pretty_ sure I've
switched on everything I need to.

So I'm thinking either a) this is a problem with 2.5 kernels - has
anyone else had any success? or b) I've missed something, in which
case perhaps the above will be enough for someone to point me in the
right direction?

Also, here's the md5sum of the mgmt.o I'm using:

[root@ikkyo mgmt]# md5sum mgmt.o
ce3582cc9c3b967baa0e918f2708075d mgmt.o

All help appreciated...

Cheers,

Andy
