I'm a little bit further on. I've manually set up my config files as per SpeedTouchUSB How-To using Benoit Papillault's OpenSource drivers.
When I call Modem_run -m -f /usr/share/speedtouch/mgmt.o I don't get an error. In fact, I get no response. When I check my log I see the following: Apr 21 17:55:17 localhost kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout Apr 21 17:55:17 localhost kernel: usbdevfs: USBDEVFS_BULK failed dev 3 ep 0x85 len 512 ret -110 Apr 21 17:55:20 localhost kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout I tried to run pppd call adsl after this but I get a load of errors in my log. I'm sure it is something to do with the usb error. After boot up it I get the following : Apr 21 18:05:51 localhost usb: Loading USB interface (usb-uhci) succeeded Apr 21 18:05:51 localhost usb: Mount USB filesystem succeeded Apr 21 18:05:52 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... no modules for USB product 0/0/0 Apr 21 18:05:52 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... no modules for USB product 0/0/0 Apr 21 18:05:52 localhost rc: Starting iptables: succeeded Apr 21 18:05:52 localhost harddrake: succeeded Apr 21 18:05:52 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: Setup printer for USB product 4b8/5/100 Apr 21 18:05:53 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: missing kernel or user mode driver printer Apr 21 18:05:53 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... no modules for USB product 6b9/4061/0 Apr 21 18:05:55 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: ... no modules for USB product 3eb/3301/100 Apr 21 18:05:56 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: Setup wacom for USB product 56a/11/203 Apr 21 18:05:56 localhost kudzu: succeeded Apr 21 18:05:56 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: missing kernel or user mode driver wacom I have a printer installed in the second usb port that works fine from Linux. I also have a separate x2 usb ports with a hub plugged into 1 port Any ideas? -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf Of alex Sent: 21 April 2002 17:36 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [speedtouch] Re: Newbie needs help On Sat, 2002-04-20 at 19:03, Lee wrote: > > I've just installed mandrake 8.2 downloaded mgmt.o from Alcatel. For Mandrake Specific stuff I suggest you try their support forums/lists. > I ran this from the terminal and it returns Starting ADSL connection : > Fatal error unable to locate microcode. > > I understand the microcode to be mgmt.o. > > Any ideas what is wrong ? Do I have to set permissions for mgmt.o ? It means exactly what it says on the tin. Did you download the microcode from the Alcatel website? We can't distribute microcode because of the license agreement (and I assume Mandrake dont have permission either). -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.bennee.com/~alex/ Liste de diffusion modem ALCATEL SpeedTouch USB Pour se dsinscrire : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=unsubscribe Liste de diffusion modem ALCATEL SpeedTouch USB Pour se dsinscrire : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=unsubscribe
