Hi -

Has anyone found the cause or solution to receiving large amounts of CRC
errors?

In the archive I have noticed that there are several references to the
problem but no solution, except a patch that could result in a core dump.
I'm running the modem attached to a Debian machine that acts as router.
Over the last few months it's gone from a P166 with 32MB RAM and the
Natoma/Triton USB chipset (mentioned as potentially buggy on the list
before) to a Celeron Pentium III 500 with 64 MB and a new USB PCI card. Yet
at certain times lots of CRC errors are reported to the syslog, over the
last two days it's got much worse and I don't remember changing anything,
except having to reboot because the computer froze (no idea why).

The errors gradually increase and sometimes transform into USBDEVFS_BULK
failed errors and then the connection has to be restarted. It works fine on
Windows, I've tested it with kernels 2.4.17, 2.4.18, and 2.4.19-rc3, I'm
using ppp 2.4.1, and both pppoa2 and 3 act the same.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
