Hello I am trying to use the speedtouch drivers 1.2Beta with my Debian woody (it's a fresh install of the release 1). My box is a P4 and my provider use pppoe. My modem is an Alcatel Speedtouch USB.
At the moment my modem is hanging up after a "..no such device" error. I have tried to follow the howto and some references about pppoe found in the web. Until now i have been able to solve some problems (tun devices missing, modules configurations, modules.conf aliases, etc ...), but i´m stuck with this one, and need some help/directions. modem_run seems to be ok (version 1.2Beta1) ---from syslog ------ Feb 12 23:50:37 huey modem_run[660]: modem_run version 1.2-beta1 started by root uid 0 Feb 12 23:50:39 huey kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout Feb 12 23:50:39 huey kernel: usbdevfs: USBDEVFS_BULK failed dev 3 ep 0x85 len 512 ret -110 Feb 12 23:51:06 huey modem_run[660]: ADSL synchronization has been obtained Feb 12 23:51:06 huey modem_run[660]: ADSL line is up (512 kbit/s down | 128 kbit/s up) ----------------------------- all seems ok ??? after my call to (pppoa3 -b -c -v 2 -vpi 0 -vci 35) (0,35 for Portugal, provider OniNet) ---from syslog ------- Feb 12 23:52:24 huey pppoa3[666]: pppoa3 version 1.2-beta1 started by root (uid 0) Feb 12 23:52:24 huey pppoa3[666]: Vpi set to 0 Feb 12 23:52:24 huey pppoa3[666]: Vci set to 35 Feb 12 23:52:24 huey pppoa3[666]: Verbosity level set to 2 Feb 12 23:52:24 huey pppoa3[666]: Schedule policy set to 0 Feb 12 23:52:24 huey pppoa3[666]: Modem ID set to 1 Feb 12 23:52:24 huey pppoa3[666]: Using Sync HDLC mode Feb 12 23:52:24 huey pppoa3[666]: Using Bridged PPPoE mode Feb 12 23:52:24 huey pppoa3[666]: Control pipe disabled Feb 12 23:52:24 huey pppoa3[666]: Previous instance cleaning enabled Feb 12 23:52:24 huey pppoa3[666]: Control thread ready Feb 12 23:52:24 huey pppoa3[666]: Pty descriptors : fdin=3, fdout=3 Feb 12 23:52:24 huey pppoa3[666]: Modem found!
