you will definitely need the paths, so don't take them out again.
Things to do:
(1) determine if the script is being called. Put an
echo "yes!" > somedebugfile;
near the beginning somewhere. If so, find out if the
action is being processed.
(2) Look in your system logs for messages from modem_run.
