Hi all,

I am running FreeBSD 6.0-RELEASE and have successfully
compiled the drivers, however they do not work
properly. The device is detected properly (from
dmesg):

ugen0: ALCATEL Speed Touch USB, rev 1.10/0.00, addr 2

There is a FreeBSD bug report on this
(http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=usb/83504).
Details of the problem are as follows:

modem_run seems to download the firmware OK, but never
reports line sync although the lights seem to indicate
sync has been obtained. dmesg shows the following
during this process:

All threads purged from ugen0.1
All threads purged from ugen0.5
All threads purged from ugen0.1
All threads purged from ugen0.5
All threads purged from ugen0.6
All threads purged from ugen0.7

"ppp -background adsl" then gives the following error:

Working in background mode
Using interface: tun0
Child failed (errdead)

and an infinite loop is entered (from dmesg):

Purging 2 threads from ugen0.1

I have both a rev.0 modem (green frog) and a rev.4
modem (silver) and both exhibit exactly the same
problem. I have been using these drivers since they
were first ported to BSD on both OpenBSD and FreeBSD
and I cannot see any problems with the configuration
or a way around this.

I would be happy to do any testing or provide any
extra information that may be helpful in resolving
this as I am very keen to find a way to get this
working. Unfortunately I would not know where to start
looking in the code to develop a fix for this!

Many thanks for any help anyone can give,

Nick.
