This depends on the type but should not be too difficult. * text roles can be defined in an to-be-included rst document or a Python wrapper. * directives can be defined in a Python wrapper. Providing ``rst2...-sphix.py`` frontends that define sensible fallbacks for the Sphinx extensions and then call Docutils' publish_cmdline to convert single rst files would be a nice tool for quick tests, too.
