Hi,

this is my first post here and we are currently doing our first steps with
sphinx right now.

We are trying to use sphinx to maintain and translate the documentation of
our software (well, that's what it is for, right? ;-)). While converting
our existing manual, we ran into one problem:
We have a few places where we want to explain the API and use class names
there, like "Printer" or "Attachment". These of course should under no
circumstances be translated. When doing the languages we speak ourselves,
we can make sure that we do not translate them, for other translators this
is close to impossible.

Is there a way to tell the gettext builder to not translate certain words?

This is not only for the API, but also for things like names we would like
to exclude from translation.

Maybe it might be worth looking into the domain stuff and properly use that
at some point, as it probably assists with more than just the translation,
but we are not that far yet.

Any ideas or hints are very welcome.

Many thanks,
Philip
