I would like to be sure to donate to projects that strategically cover the gamut of new user needs; specifically:
- Debian - KDE - plasma - Thunderbird - LibreOffice - vlc - postgres (people are often implicitly using this when they use website services...) - Vivaldi browser (it's damn good; most people just haven't heard about it or know how to configure it yet...) Does or can a donation to SPI cover all or most of those projects? How does a donor indicate the "split" among these projects, if one can??
