Hi,

The current QXL driver is not Windows 10 compatible. Is there a new version in development or can I force the use of the current WDDM driver?

I use version 0.1-21 from http://www.spice-space.org/download/windows/qxl/

Thanks in advance,

Dominique.

Dear Mr. Lureau,

I had asked the same question on the libvirt user mailing list, but without
getting any smarter. I see on github, you're very active on the spice
repository. I hope it's ok I write to you personally for this and I thank
you in advance for any information you want to share.

I work as the technical manager in a small company in Belgium (Cometal NV
Formwork Constructions). I've migrated our servers to a Libvirt/KVM
environment with success.

Some of the guys have a workstation at the office and a workstation at home
or on the road. Having this great experience with our server migration, I
wanted to start using the same environment to setup some virtual PC's. These
mobile users then can get everywhere the same desktop through remote
desktop.

I've also have discovered the spice-viewer. I would like to use the
spice-viewer to connect to the virtual workstations starting from a Linux
laptop/pc. I also would like to provide two monitors for some workstations.
For this I should install the QXL video driver, right? I'm using this video
driver with success on the servers. Sadly enough, the QXL driver won't
install on Windows 10. And it seems, there isn't a QXL for Windows 10.

I also read there are two types of drivers: WDDM and XDDM. XDDM won't be
supported as of Windows 8 and the WDDM driver development seems to be on
hold (Last commit on Guthub 3 years ago)?

Do you know if there is or will be a Windows 10 compatible QXL driver
available soon?

Thanks again in advance for any information you wan't to share.

Greetings,

Dominique Ramaekers
Technical Manager
Cometal NV
