When I set my GM Alternator up last fall I noticed it was about a 1/4 of an inch too far forward. Not idea for the belt.
I would like to correct this problem so I have 2 options. 1. Tap the hole on the motor where the alternator sits so it will sit back farther. http://www.mediacentre.com/~andre/gt6/2001/07-29/pages/DSCN1307.htm http://www.mediacentre.com/~andre/gt6/2001/08-14/pages/DSCN1349.htm Or 2. Trim the Alternator. Both have draw backs on the motor the hole in question is used to lift the motor out of the car I believe and if I cut the alternator I'm pretty sure that would void my core refund if it ever failed. What is the best solution?
