Are there any other ways of idenfying dot 5?

It's purple.... I know that.... when I looked in my brake resevoir it had a bit
of a purple tint.... but I was 100% sure...

What I do know is that I havent had to top up the brakes in the (almost) 1 1/2
year ownership of my car (crikey thats a long time.... its gone so quickly....)

Just curious, because I need to bleed the brakes this weekend - theyre feeling a
little spongy.
