The side with the elevated section should be facing *away* from the flywheel... if you think about it - there is no way there is enough clearance on the flywheel for the elevated section to push in to it...

You'll still need a clutch alignment tool - or a 3/8 deep socket with masking tape... or your eyes...

Alignment tool is one of those tools you'll be glad to have - it just makes everything so easy...
