Barry, "Joe" is very happy with his fully independent suspension setup on Tiny Tim.

Speaking of rear end setups, how many of you really want to replace your existing swing axle suspension? Just how much would you be willing to pay for such a setup? With all the discussion that invariably develops about the merits or misgivings of the swing axle suspension I have been toying off an on for some time about a fully independent, non Rotoflex suspension system that would require little if any modification, but of course, would require replacing various components. The parts probably would not be cheap, but a new rear end rarely is. It would be very similar to the Jaguar rear end. The new setup would require new uprights, radius rods, axles with larger u-joints, and different hubs, but would use the existing differential, spring (not swing, but fixed which should make Joe REALLY happy :-) notice smiley face), brakes, and would hopefully require no modifications to the frame or body. Basically a bolt in fully independent rear suspension. I would imagine that the parts required would run between $600 to $800 possibly more depending upon how much the hubs and associated parts would cost to machine - It would use new radius rods, the existing spring as the upper control arm and a half shaft with two u-joints as the lower control arm requiring no slip or sliding joints. Essentially an "upside down" so to speak jag setup - I could make an upper control arm mount that attaches to the diff instead of the spring, but then I would have to use coil over shocks of some kind for the springs adding to the cost and complexity, but it could be done. Still, I kind of like using the spring as it performs both those functions which leave the shock mountings as is Comments and or suggestions welcome!??
