Hi Dimitris, I've not seen anything like this - sounds like something is wrong with the installation. My suggestion is to try a local install in your home directory to see if it has the same issue (should just be a cut and paste of steps 1-3 from http://users.monash.edu.au/~dprice/splash/download.html).
Do you get anything on the graph at all? Also, what version of giza and cairo does it report when you type "?" at the device menu?
