Hi Joe -
Basically an urban legend (and just in case you're wondering, I'm not a fan of Kerry *or* Bush, since I think their policies will be pretty similar in outcome as far as the number of US enlisted and civilians that'll lose their lives tragically/needlessly in the next year).

"President (Bush) claims 1995 Kerry plan would "gut" the intelligence services. It was a 1% cut, and key Republicans approved something similar."
Related to this, and ironically, some of the biggest proposals on record to cut the defense budget were made by George HW Bush and his Secretary of Defense, Dick Cheney. Not that there weren't some valid reasons for doing so.
In any case, if you think about it, it'd be pretty near impossible to cut "80 percent" from the budget of any prominent federal agency without completely shutting it down. Imagine if a company lost 80 percent of its revenue in a relatively short time, or if your household income was reduced by as much...

Paul, Thanks for the info.. what is the apprx cost of this set up? is it designed for voice or morse? i forgot my limited morse. i was trained crypto ASA. I am looking at an inexpensive voice feed set up... Also, word is that Kerry fought to cut NSA budget by 80%. keep that in mind
