No, this radio will not help you at all. You are better off looking for an in-expensive Short Wave radio. Older analog (dial) SW radios can be had for $20 to $40 and are usually found at yard sales, second hand shops and Pawn shops. Excellent used models should cost no more than $100 with all the bells and whistles. If possible, and highly recommended you will want a receiver with a switch that has SSB (single side band) on it. Entry level radios usually aren't labeled LSB/USB, but anything with generic SSB or BFO switch will work fine!
