Applications are invited for appointment to this position, which will be
offered on a full-time, tenurable basis commencing in January/February 2005.
Launceston is an attractive campus in the Tamar Valley and the School of
Human Life Sciences has excellent facilities, a well-equipped exercise
science laboratory, with specialised climate chamber and links with the
Tasmanian Institute of Sport. The school has been completely refurbished
with modern laboratories, teaching areas and research space in 2003.

The successful applicant will contribute to the teaching, research and
administration associated with degrees taught by the School of Human Life
Sciences, particularly the Bachelor of Health Science and Bachelor of Human
Movement degrees.
The appointee will have proven teaching ability and experience at a tertiary
level in areas of exercise physiology, the health effects of exercise and
nutrition and at least one other area, e.g. anatomy and physiology or
biomechanics. Level C applicants will also have experience in unit and
strand/program coordination and a demonstrated ability in supervision of
postgraduate research. Applicants will have a current and significant
research program in exercise physiology and/or the health effects of
exercise and nutrition, a demonstrated ability to gain research grants and a
relevant publication record.

An appointment at Academic Level B will have a total remuneration package of
up to $79,924 per annum (comprising salary within the range of $57,935 -
$68,311 plus 17% superannuation). An appointment at Academic Level C will
have a total remuneration package of up to $94,376 per annum (comprising
salary within the range of $70,396 - $80,663 plus 17% superannuation).
