We are seeking people who are passionate about enhancing performance and can
make a real difference.

Have you directly had significant experience in high performance sport and
had an impact on the performance of medal winning athletes? The New Zealand
Academy of Sport is seeking senior strategic roles which will have a strong
influence on New Zealand high performance sport performance.

New Zealand high performance sport is building on its recent success from
the Beijing Olympics (9 medals) and 10 podium finishes in Olympic
disciplines at 2009 World Championships. Our priority goal is to convert
our current top 8 placings into more medals in London 2012. Working for the
NZ Academy of Sport provides an outstanding opportunity to directly
influence NZ's future sporting success.

Proven experience in making a positive contribution to international
sporting success is required. The successful candidates will have at least
5 years experience immersed in high performance sport and will have worked
effectively with elite coaches, athletes and/or high performance managers
for a sustained time period. Excellent communication skills are essential,
with the ability to strategically think, plan and influence.

There are four fulltime positions. The Sport Performance Manager and the
Performance Planning Manager will be based in our Centre of Excellence in
Auckland with one further position that combines both these roles based at
the Centre of Excellence in Christchurch. The Performance Psychologist role
will also be based in Christchurch.

The Sport Performance Manager works closely with specific sports and will be
responsible for the achievement of athlete and coach performance goals that
directly relate to NZAS support. Key focus areas will be on people
management, effective case management and integration and the development,
implementation and monitoring of quality planning. Senior management
duties will also be required.

*  Performance Planning Manager

The Performance Planning Manager will work closely with targeted coaches and
medal potential athletes to support the development, implementation and
monitoring of individual performance plans and provide regional leadership
and development of the Performance Planning programme.

*  Performance Psychologist

The Performance Psychologist will assist national sports, their coaches and
world class athletes to effectively ultilise performance psychology
strategies and techniques to impact on elite athletic performance. The role
will work as part of a national performance team to collaborate and share
knowledge and best practice and add significant value to the national high
performance community.

The New Zealand Academy of Sport (NZAS) works in partnership with sports
identified by Sport & Recreation NZ (SPARC) to enable their high performance
