Sport and Exercise Science New Zealand (SESNZ) would like to invite you and your staff to the 2013 Annual Conference. The conference will take place in Christchurch (University of Canterbury) between Friday 29th and Saturday 30th November 2013. This year's conference programme provides a series of plenary sessions, workshops, oral and poster presentations and discussion groups, which will help you to keep up with latest developments of Sport and Exercise Science in New Zealand. The theme of the Conference is Exercise Science for Health and Sports Performance - providing a platform for presentations from the health or performance domains. Specific abstracts to the plenary sessions will be available on the website, along with additional conference information (venue, abstract guidelines, accommodation etc). Early-bird registration fees (inclusive of lunch, tea/coffee & light snacks) will be available up until 30th September 2013. Delegates are welcome to submit abstracts for consideration as either an oral or poster presentation. The abstract deadline has been adjusted to 30th September 2013 to tie in with the early-bird registration. Abstracts are to be submitted to the SESNZ National Manager ([email protected]). Confirmed Plenary Sessions: Alex Baumann (Chief Executive, High Performance Sport New Zealand): An update and the future vision of HPSNZ Dr Sandy Mandic (University of Otago): Built Environment and Active Transport to School in Kiwi Adolescents: Insights from Otago Professor Gary Hermansson (Professor Emeritus - Massey University): Towards Alignment: The Mind/Body Partnership in Exercise and Sport In addition a series of conference workshops will take place on the Friday and Saturday including the assessment of heart rate variability (Associate Professor Mike Hamlin and Cathy Lizamore, Lincoln University), the use of 3D analysis in performance analysis (Dr Jenny Clarke, University of Canterbury) and strength and conditioning for sports performance (Dr Carl Petersen, former Cricket S& C Coach, University of Canterbury).
