Hi all,

new to the spring mailing list, so forgive me if this has been asked before. I'm looking for example PCAP files of the different SRv6 SID compression methods. Does anyone have such captures and would be willing to share them? Also, is there an existing Wireshark dissector for SRv6 compression formats? If not, I’d be interested in collaborating to develop one.

For context: I am a PhD student developing the open-source traffic generator P4TG. Our traffic generator achieves 10x 400 Gbit/s of traffic generation with various customizable protocol stacks (including SRv6 with 3 uncompressed SIDs!). Further, P4TG includes many measurement functions, such as TX/RX rates, RTT histograms and much more, all rendered in a nice frontend, or available in the REST API. I plan to extend P4TG with support for generating traffic using configurable SRv6 SID compression methods. To validate my implementation, I’m looking for "ground truth" PCAPs.

P4TG is built for the Intel Tofino (2) hardware, which is EOL. However, the SDE has been open sourced which allows you to run P4TG without the Intel NDA (more information here: https://github.com/p4lang/open-p4studio/issues/101). Hardware is still acquirable.

If the P4TG project sounds interesting to you , here's some more information: https://github.com/uni-tue-kn/P4TG

See you in the WG session!

Best,

Fabian
