Hi Folks, As per 124 meeting's discussion, mainly focus on whether VPN SID verification is needed for teleco network. The update of this version is to remove VPN SID verification, and SRv6 source address using SID remains in order to be compatible with firewall.
Any comments? Name: draft-yang-spring-sid-as-source-address Revision: 08 Title: SID as source address in SRv6 Date: 2026-02-09 Group: Individual Submission Pages: 10 URL: https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-yang-spring-sid-as-source-address-08.txt Status: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-yang-spring-sid-as-source-address/ HTMLized: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-yang-spring-sid-as-source-address Diff: https://author-tools.ietf.org/iddiff?url2=draft-yang-spring-sid-as-source-address-08 Abstract: SRv6 is being rapidly deployed and is currently primarily used in trusted-domain backbone networks. Both the carrier market and the enterprise market are adopting SRv6 for end-to-end service delivery. However, if a firewall exists along an SRv6 path, legitimate SRv6 traffic will be dropped. This proposal addresses this issue by using SID as source address in SRv6 packets.
