Open web or TJI? Viking and Tyco have specific application sprinklers
for these areas. (flat spray pattern v.s. the standard dome shaped
spray pattern). 2'-0" sounds like open web trusses, and yes the chord
members are obstructions, but you will find you don't need to be that
far away to be unobstructed.

This is not in the ceiling. This is the joist between two floors.

1'-9" floor joist? Could this be a TJI? What is the spacing and ceiling
arrangement?

Subject: Floor Joist question

I have a situation where the building has a 1'9" wood floor joist
construction and I am being asked if it needs to be sprinkled. If so
what type and how many heads. I say that by 8.14.1.2.1 that it does not
or may not need to be sprinkled but I just don't know. Any help would be
great.
