In the event of a conflict between a code and a standard, we have always
allowed the code to be the requirement. For examply the IBC requires a
2 hour duration for the emergency generator for high rise buildings, but
the IFC requires the emergency generator to be installed in accordance
with NFPA 110 and 111. The NFPA standard has a duration far in excess of
2 hours, but the project only has to meet the 2 hour requirement.

WHat is the exact conflict you are involved with?

Say an NFPA standard is adopted as part of a building code. The
building code allows a modification of the NFPA standard. Do the
building code and NFPA standard then become conflicting codes and the
more stringent apply?
