ALthough logic would say you per your maintenance testing at the system demand, that wasn't happening in many places due to the wording in NFPA 25. The starting point is as Rich has pointed out, many places haven't been doing any flow testing of standpipes. Nonetheless, many have been doing only a 500 gpm test based on 25:6.3.1 (02 ed). It says: flow test at the most remote hose connection (NOTE SINGULAR) to verify water supply still provides the design pressure at the required flow. So what does NFPA 14 dictate as a design pressure and flow for a single standpipe. We could actually say 250 gpm since its says single connection and not a single standpipe. We changed it to reflect it is to be tested at the System Demand.

Unfortunately 25 won't be out until after the June meeting since there are some NITMAM's.
