then MAKE the propane work as the fuel for your engine. comply with the rules for propane driven electrical-generating equipment. i would deem an onsite tank more reliable than a public utility source, based on future (not past) possibilities of interruption. If you want extra precaution, put a wall between the tank and property you want to protect from BLEVE. If you are in a seismic zone, get your civil to buckle the tank down. make sure there are no overhead wires that can fall on the tank and delivery piping, and that the above mentioned wall won´t fall on it either. Prevent traffic from skidding into the tank with bollards. make it happen, atypically.
