I have an area below a mezzanine that has an 8' ceiling height. The edge of the area is open to the ceiling above, and the area above is sprinklered. As well, I have used the Design Area Reduction (11.2.3.2.3.1) for the upper ceiling. Can I re-apply the DAR on the lower area utilizing the minimum of 900 sf, or should I use the reduced area for the upper ceiling based on its ceiling height? The reason that I need to do this is that I have an exposed pipe situation with exposed ducts throughout. In order to pipe this area I have some unusual routing, and I simply want to verify the pipe sizes.
