In Michigan, sprinkler drawings do not need a PE stamp. (This was an attorney generals report). Michigan utilizes a modified version the ICC codes and in the first chapter talks about what drawings and the like are required and what can be a differed submittal. The "design professional" bears a lot of the liability and if they are the owner then they have even more to be concerned about (no one to blame but themselves).
If we are talking residential (13d) is there anything wrong with the concern if the system is correct? If the system is correctly designed by a profession al who knows hydraulic calculations and under review they are code compliant, then I would think it is okay. My response would be quite different if it was a commercial building. I know the owner/builder is not required to have a C16 (California lic.) so why would he be required to have the engineers stamp? Thank you for your input.
