I know that Ul "list" items that meet their minimum safety standards, I have heard that UL listing doesn't deal with the operation of the product, for example a UL listed heater only means that the heater meets minimum safety standards but the UL listing requirements doesn't deal with the ability of the heater to provide any heat! Unlike UL, FM approval procedure looks not only at the safety of the product, but it’s ability to function in the application. Their function is to prevent losses, whether from safety related issues or from product mis-application. So a UL listed heater is a safe product but may not be able to produce any heat but a FM approved heater is a safe product and will surely be able to produce heat, so I conclude that FM is more comprehensive than UL, is it right? If my theory is right, so why some products are FM approved but not UL listed? What is the difference between a UL listed sprinkler/valve with a FM approved sprinkler/valve? Which one is better? I think FM approval is more difficult that UL listing, is it right? Thanks in advance, Reza __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
