Much cleaner when looking at the criteria in 02 13:11.2.3.1.8(6) Water demand of sprinkler under obstructions need not be added to the ceiling demand (obviously addressing only SPRAY SPRINKLERS). We deleted this in ch 11 for 07 with the intent that the INstallation committee would clean up the vague guidance in ch 14 (now 22)

I have a couple of questions regarding NFPA 13 section 14.4.4.4.3 re calcing sprinklers below obstructions, specifically referring to the following phrase: "the water supply for one of the levels of sprinklers shall be permitted to be omitted.....".

1. If you have more than one level of sprinklers below obstructions (I have 2 on a project I am working on), does this mean you can only eliminate one of the levels?

2. What constitutes a level? If you have ductwork at different elevations, does that constitute one level?
